My 2015 Advent Calendar Picks

Once again it's coming up to the time of year where it is acceptable to eat chocolate before breakfast, but if like me you're not a massive chocolate fiend what else is out there for you? Well that's a very good question and one I may actually be able to answer...

Beauty Calendars really hit the scenes a few years ago now and have gone from strength-to-strength in terms of content and design. This year there seems to be more of the 12 day versions than ever before which is great because you can give them as gifts at Christmas and then the recipient can enjoy them over the traditional 12 days of Christmas... Just don't go expecting two Turtle Doves or five Gold Rings behind the doors!

There are so many options out there this year and of course many sell out the moment they hit the shelves but here are a few I've managed to find online and that I think most girlies would be happy to receive under the tree this Christmas.

The Ciate Mini Mani Calendar is the only full month option in my selection and I think it will always be in my top 5 options each year. Ciate nail products are second to none and behind each door you will find yourself a nail treat.

Another full month selection that is always at the top of my list is the annual Yankee Candle offering. The Reindeer Carousel is my favourite of this years and features a mixture of tealight and votive versions of the Christmas scents in store.

One that is bound to be a firm favourite with beauty bloggers is the Lush 12 Days of Christmas calendar. I love that this is designed to look like a, albeit huge, book and it has some wonderful detailing on the box. Inside you will find year round favourites such as The Comforter and their Yuzu & Cocoa Shower Creams alongside some of their seasonal treats. I don't want to give too much away but you might even find Five Gold rings in here!

I have finally embraced the world of Charlotte Tilbury and as a result I am majorly lusting after her Book of Make-up Magic selection. Over the course of 12 days you will learn some her beauty secrets and find eleven products you will currently find in stores and exclusively receive her new product due for launch in January. The most expensive of my picks, but worth every penny!

FeelUnique.com is one of my favourite sites when it comes to stocking up on my makeup, with its fantastic selection of low, mid & high-end products just a click away at all times, so it is unsurprisingly one of my picks this year. The 12 Days of Unique Beauty calendar houses products for skin and hair as well as makeup making this the most varied calendar in my selection this year.

Finally, the bloggers choice. All hail queen Tanya. Tanya Burr is an inspiration to many, including me, her never say never attitude, her hard work and her achievements to date have won her a place in the hearts of many. I love her new range (her Aphrodite Lip Gloss is definitely an everyday favourite of mine) and so when I saw she was doing a calendar too I just had to have a look. Deck the Hauls is another mini calendar version which houses twelve Tanya Burr Cosmetics products and it looks the cutest on the shelf!

So there you have it! What calendar will you have on the mantlepiece this year? Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon. Until then though x

As the penultimate month of 2015 draws to a close I have decided to give 'My Fitness Diary' a little make over. It's the usual roundup of all things health and fitness in a new, hopefully more logical, layout...

My Winter Style Picks

Suddenly over the past few days the Arctic chill that we all associate with UK Winter time has taken hold of our weather front and many of us have seen the first snowfall of the season. My style always evolves over Winter, it has to of course, but with this in mind I thought I'd share some of my favourite pieces for Autumn/ Winter 2015...

My Fall Favourites

I love Autumn, I love the colours, the cold and crisp mornings and the cosy nights in. I also love wearing darker shades on my eyes, creating deep sumptuous lips and sweeping a light flush of colour over the cheeks and that's where my Fall Favorites come in...

My Product Tests - Flexitol Foot Care

It's never too early to start getting ready for the impending party season, especially if the Summer has taken it's toll on your feet, making them dry and cracked. It may seem easier to just hide them away in boots for several months instead of tackling the problem, however, I may have found a fuss free solution...

My Five Minute Makeup Essentials

We've all had those days where seemingly no matter how much thought and effort you put into being prepared, the alarm doesn't go off, you oversleep and have to be out of the door in next five minutes, either that or if you're like me you take way too long in the shower and then end up having no time for makeup!

My Product Test - LQ Hair & Nails

You will often find me rambling about Protein on here when it comes to what I am eating and in relation to keeping fit and healthy. But I don’t think I’ve mentioned it in connection with warding off the early signs of aging...

Collagen is a Protein that is naturally produced within our skin and alongside elastin it helps to keep us looking younger for longer. However, as we get a little bit older we start to struggle to produce the same levels that we could when we were in our teens and we start to look a little tired, wrinkled and generally older.

LQ Skin, Hair & Nails supplements may not look anything special but they are packed full of something very special indeed; pure marine collagen. This liquid formula gets collagen straight into the bloodstream and the deeper layers of skin where it is craved so much, however, although LQ taste’s better than other supplement drinks, the Passion Fruit flavour is extremely sharp so it is definitely a down in one shot drink!

I was lucky enough to try LQ out for a week (each box from Holland & Barrett will keep you going for 10 days) and although I’m not sure that you could see any difference in the tone of my skin, I could definitely feel my nails & hair were stronger and looking healthier than ever, with much less breakage.

One thing I learnt from LQ is that there is an antioxidant called Resveratrol that helps to reduce wrinkles, which can be found in LQ alongside Hyaluronic Acid too. But Resveratrol is also in Red Wine which surely means it now cures everything from heart disease to getting old?

Back on point (sorry but you know I have a habit of digressing), overall I thought LQ was a good product, yes the flavour is a little overpowering, but other than that there were very few negatives and I like the small shot bottles it comes in because they are so travel friendly.

LQ Skin, Hair & Nails can be found in your local Holland and Barrett or online for just £29.99 which may seem a little steep, but let’s face it we only get one body; we need to look after it.

Keeping That Summer Glow

Looking at this picture from my time in Sorrento this summer actually makes me feel a little sad. Why? Just look at the colour of those little hot dogs I call legs! It's no secret that at this time of year we can all begin to feel a bit tired, a bit dull and develop the desire to become a hedgehog...
