Spring Break at Center Parcs

I've never been one for 'stay-cationing' during the opening months of the year, the unpredictable British weather usually puts me off booking anything longer than a long weekend away on home shores. However, this year was a little special...

...Because it saw my nearly Uncle (long-standing joke between the two of us) turn 50 and so was decided that we (all 14 of us) would head off to Center Parcs at Sherwood Forest for a week away under (& in) the trees.

Location | Center Parcs at Sherwood Forest is set in the Sheriff of Nottingham's back yard just outside Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. Easily accessible from both the M1 & A1 it makes for an ideal getaway spot from both the North & Midlands areas.

Accommodation | As there were quite a few of us we had to have more than one lodge. In total we had an Apartment, an Executive Lodge and a Treehouse - so there was plenty of space to grab some peace and quiet if you needed it, however, we spent most of our time in the Treehouse.

As you would imagine the Treehouse interiors are modern, stylish and luxurious and the exteriors natural and rustic. They fit in with their landscape, accentuating the woodland surrounding them and yet offer the occupants all of the luxury of city living with a private games room, hot tub & sauna, free wifi and flat screen TV's throughout. Gone are the days of retro living at Center Parcs.

The Treehouse's are located on the South side of the complex, away from the hustle of the village and only a few minutes walk from most facilities.

Things to Do | Unlike my visit to Whinfell Forest earlier in the year, the weather was pretty kind to us throughout our stay, however, it was still on the cool side so outdoor activities were not top of the list! Instead we opted to do things such as Bowling, Squash & Pottery Painting instead and of course plenty of time wrestling the rapids!

Restaurants | One of my favourite things about Center Parcs is the variety of eateries available on site, all of which do their best to cater for people with allergies and intolerances. Of course we headed straight for the Pancake house on day one, paid numerous visits to Starbucks and even made time for a few visits to Hucks during our stay as well as enjoying a goodbye takeaway on the last night.

Shopping | You may find it surprising that Center Parcs has a few great shops on site alongside the obligatory toy shop & sweet store. Sportique has some great lines in store from brands such as as Adidas & Superdry, you can pick up a new Radley at Spirit and pick up a new pair of Havaianas at Aquatique. Whilst we were there a fair few of us picked up an item or two in Sportique!

Spa | Aqua Sana provides a real oasis of calm in the middle of the forest, with numerous treatments on offer alongside their World of Spa experience sessions there really is something for everyone. Personally I don't think you can beat a good spa session whilst away from home to refresh yourself mentally and physically, even if I did end up laying in the Japanese Salt Steam Bath planning an article out.

I adore the whole Center Parcs concept as it is all about getting back to basics and spending time with those you love in some of the UK's most beautiful settings. Not only would I highly recommend it, I would go so far as to say it is one of those holidays you should do at least once in your life and get close to nature.

Are you a Center Parcs fan? I'd love to hear about your Spring breaks too, where have you been visiting? Let me know below and I'll catch up with you soon, until then though x
