Fitness & Me

If you had asked me to write this post a few years ago, or even just a year ago you would have been about to read something very different to what you are about to and in all honesty I can say that my change of heart and mindset is 100% down to the blogging community...

...19 months ago I started on what now feels like the biggest journey of my life. Who would have thought that open my laptop up, throwing together a few ideas and writing down a few words would have had such an impact on my life.

But being honest it isn't just the words I have written that I have to thank for my new found confidence and self-belief, it is also the words that I have written and the connections and friends I have made within the community (journey, community, I'm on a role with the cliches tonight).

Let's start with who I was back then.

I was a quiet, content thirty year old who had a million ideas running through her head, wanted nothing more than to be a super skinny size 6 with thigh gap and weigh in at about 120lbs. I had no idea that the 1200 calories per day were doing more harm than good, what a macro nutrient really was or that in order be happy with my reflection I needed to do more than spend an hour on the treadmill every night.

In truth I had no idea who I was, what I wanted or what to do. I guess you could say I was lost.

Blogging gave me the confidence to talk about fitness, watching the likes of The Lean Machines and Carly Rowena on YouTube gave me new inspiration when it came to working out and Chloe Madeley taught me that I needed to eat clean, left weights and do cardio in order to achieve a body I would be happy with.

I started to research fitness more, learn about nutrition and exercise, try new things out and learn what worked for me. Hell if it wasn't for Scarlett (Scarlett London) I would probably have never realised how much my diet affected my health on a day-to-day basis.

Now I'm in a much better place with myself, I know who I want to be (strong not skinny), what I want to do (inspire & inform others) and most importantly I know who I am; a motivated individual with a passion to achieve and succeed.

I'm looking to get my Body Fat under 20% and for it to stay there consistently long term, in an ideal world I'd love to achieve around 18% but I know I'd have to be as lean as a bean, but below 20 would make me happy and happiness is the most important goal to achieve.

I would also love to get back to being under 9st (126 lbs) - this is something that is going to take time, consistency and hard work, but hard work isn't something I'm afraid of and as long as what I am doing is making me happy, I'm ok with that.

Initially this post was going to be entitled 'My Fitness Goals' but I realised that what I wanted to talk about my relationship with fitness and so much more.

What are you truly looking to achieve through fitness? Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
