Fitnes Bytes with Josi Trotter



Welcome to another 'Fitness Bytes' your fortnightly dose of reality with the shining stars of the health and fitness blogging community. We may make it look easy on our blogs and Instagram feeds, but we're only human and here's why...



Who are you & how would you describe your current lifestyle? | I’m Josi, 21, from Sussex working full time in an accounting firm. I have a very busy lifestyle but absolutely love health and fitness so I run my blog and instagram account ‘The Good Food Gallery’ on the side. This is mainly to help keep myself motivated in busy times but also to meet new people and share ideas.




What type of exercise are you currently doing? | I’m currently doing the Kayla Itsines BBG workouts as I felt I needed a bit of structure in my workouts – this includes resistance workouts, low and high intensity cardio and I also try to incorporate a little yoga as recovery from the other workouts.

How many times a week? | I workout 6 times a week if I can, but this can be just half an hour sometimes – I try and fit it in before work to keep my evenings free.

How long have you been doing it? | I have been doing BBG for a few weeks now, but before that I did another fitness plan called ‘Results with Lucy’ and before that I was doing my own workouts which were a mixture of weights with HIIT incorporated in – in total I have been working out in a similar way for almost 2 years

Being honest, have you been consistent? | No – I have had a month off here or there when life got in the way, but I love healthy eating and fitness so much that after a month I’m always itching to get back to it.

Are you getting the results you want - Yes or No? | Yes, since I’ve added more structure to my routine I’ve noticed more results – I still feel like I have progress I want to make but I’m happy with where I am.

How do you feel about your current level of fitness? | I think my fitness levels are good – I’m signed up to Tough Mudder at the end of April so they probably need to improve a little further but I feel like i’m quite a fit person!

What are you looking to achieve? Why? | Overall, I’d love to achieve a quality of life where I can balance regular workouts with everything else I want to achieve. I’d really like to grow my blog and maybe release some recipes at some point in the future!

When are you looking to reach your goal by? |  Hopefully over the next few years!

How important is it to you to achieve your goal(s)? | I think balance is extremely important in all areas – so I’d say finding this is pretty vital.

Finally ... What would you say to inspire others? | To inspire others I would say, as cliché as it sounds, the one thing I always try and remember is that everyone is on their own journey. Comparison is the thief of joy and if you constantly worry about what everyone else is doing and achieving, you will miss the amazing things you are doing yourself. The thing you think is amazing about that girl on instagram is probably something that makes her super self conscious, you just never know, so try and work on yourself as a priority as everyone is different.


Josi is very conscious of the importance that balance plays in achieving your goals both mentally and physically and understands that not only is it ok to have a break every once in awhile, it is actually important to rest!
