GRWM: Summer Date Night Edition

It dawned on me recently that I haven't done a 'Get Ready with Me' post in what felt like an eternity and so I thought I best rectify the situation and take you through what I did in preparation for a recent black tie event at Epernay Leeds.

As soon as I received my invite through for the #NuitDeLuxe Moet party at Epernay in the heart of Leeds, I knew exactly what I would be wearing. My gorgeous bright red trench dress from Blonde & Wise has become my go to special occasion dress over the last 18 months. Opting for a statement dress I wanted to keep the accessories minimal, like this gold triangle bracelet from Coconut Lane, and fresh looking makeup.

After cleansing and toning, I used my two favourite skin preparing products; Urban Decay All Nighter and The Body Shop's Instablur. I have long been a fan of Primers and Instablur is possibly the best I've come across as it feels light on the skin and doesn't feel chalky, whilst I use All Nighter as part of my prep because I find that it helps to keep my skin hydrated and my makeup in place better this way.

As I've drifted away from using foundation I opted for another product from The Body Shop, their All-in-One BB Cream is an absolute dream to use thanks to it's tone adapting formula and you can build up from a light to medium coverage for a big night out such as this and still look fresh faced.

Two products I have discovered a few new products lately, including Clinique's Curvy Contour & Hefty Highlight. I love contouring (despite never being quite sure I'm getting it right) and this duo make it so much quicker and easier to achieve that chiseled and glowing look.  After contouring it was time to finish off with a quick dusting of the Social Butterfly Amazonian Clay Bronzer & Amazed Blusher from Tarte.

Now as much as I wanted to go all fresh faced and have that makeup, what makeup look about me I also wanted to rock a smoky eye. After all going out out has become a bit of a rarity for me, I can't hack the hangovers, the late nights and all the pushing a shoving to get to the bar.

Anyway granny rant over, as I was saying I still wanted to rock a smoky eye and so I reached out (of course) to my trusty Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette and after applying my NYX Eye Shadow Base I applied Combust all over the lid and blended it up to the brow bone before using the smudger brush to apply Armour to both the inner and outer corners and into the crease before finishing off the lid with a little Dirtysweet for a golden glow and the eye with a little Password underneath the lower lashes.

For the finishing touches I applied a little Kat Von D Ink Liner in Trooper to the lash line and to create a cat eye flick, filled out my brows with the High Definition Foxy Palette, thickened up my lashes with the amazing Eyeko Black Magic Mascara and covered my lips in the iconic Mac Soar Lip Pencil for that Jenner-esque pout.

Although by this point I was well and truly pushing the boundaries of being ready on time, I decided to grab my new Sapphire 8-in-1 Curler from Irresistible Me and not straighten my hair for a change. I can't wait to tell you guys all about this styler a little bit more once I have had chance to play with it a little more but believe me the 19mm barrel is pretty damn awesome (and gets pretty damn hot too, just ask my neck).

So there you have it, my date night 'look' for a Summer night out on the tiles, I hope you like it? Let me know your Summer look staples and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
