The Truth About Blogging

I think on the whole most people associate the film 'Mean Girls' with their time in High School and not particularly with their time as an adult. But recently I've started to notice that that maybe it applies more to adult life than teen life...

At first I wondered if I should write this post, because the last thing thing that I want to do is offend or upset anyone. But at the same time this is something that has been playing on my mind for the last month or so and as someone recently told me, this is my site, I should write about whatever I want to do.

You see, the truth about blogging is that it isn't all Prosecco, Canap├ęs and freebies.

Blogging can (and most of the time is) bloody hard work, I personally balance blogging with a 9-5 job, a fitness regime and a boyfriend. But I would never say it is something I feel compelled to do because in reality I do it because I love it.

When you are new(ish) to the scene initially you try to please everybody and befriend everyone you meet and personally I would love to be able to be friends with everyone but lets face it that isn't possible.

And why isn't is possible?

Seemingly because there is always a Janis.

There will always be someone who is jealous of what others have, who tries to influence those less secure and confident to think the same as them and that is more than happy to call people out over their mistakes.

There will always be someone more 'successful' than you at events because success means different things to different people. There will always be someone who you don't get to speak to at events but that doesn't mean that they think that you are 'beneath' them. There will always be someone who forgets a face, is socially awkward or nervous.

But that doesn't mean that they are trying to offend you, if a person being themselves offends you, walk the hell away.

By all means have your own opinions, that's natural, but stop trying to stick the knife in at every opportunity. It isn't and endearing feature and is more likely to have the opposite effect to what you want it to do.

The truth about blogging is that is that in reality sometimes it can be just like high school when most of us are old enough to know better and that some people make it harder than it needs to be.

I don't know if this post will even make sense to anyone except me but maybe it will and as unlikely as it is to make a difference I'm glad I chose to put it out there.

I really hope that this post doesn't offend, as I said that isn't its purpose. Does anyone else sometimes feel like blogging is a bit like Mean Girls though? Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
