Best of British

Today in England it is of course St Georges day, the day that we celebrate our heritage and all that is good and great about Britain. However, I cannot help but feel that in recent months and years we have perhaps forgotten how great we are.

Ok so lets address the elephant in the room first of all. Yes I have a Sausage Roll in my hand in the pictures above, but hey, a girls gotta eat right?

Right.

Also if I'm honest, I had the idea for this post whilst I was chowing down on said Sausage Roll last Sunday afternoon at Silverstone whilst watching round one of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

You see when it comes to Motorsport we Brits are pretty damn amazing and I'm not just saying that because of the number of victorious Brits have won their respective fields. Five of the current 10 Formula One teams are based here in the UK, most within a stones throw of the iconic Silverstone Circuit in Towcester itself.

But it isn't just Motorsport that we're pretty damn good at (although I could talk about that all day) we're also pretty damn good at creating things too. We have a seemingly endless list of entrepreneurial superstars these days, some of the worlds most popular influencers & online creators hail from these shores.

It really disheartens me to hear the older generation say that Britain has nothing going for it these days, that we no longer manufacture anything (er Aston Martin anyone), that we don't achieve anything (David Weir won his 7th London Marathon this morning, that is definitely an achievement) and that the 'youth' of today don't know what hard work is.

No we really don't do we.

Non of us get up at 6am (or earlier) in a morning to workout, head off to our '9-to-5' jobs, manage to maintain a house and run a website in our spare time at all.

Non of us have managed to forge a career for ourselves doing something that we love through sheer hard work and determination.

We really don't know that we are born do we?

Instead of hating on those that have made something of themselves, the Zoella's, the InTheFrows & EmShel's of this little island we call home, we should praise them, champion them and use them to show the next generation just where hard work can get you.

We still achieve so much in Britain, every single day we achieve something Mini turn out around 1000 cars a day and I find that pretty damn impressive.

I guess the point I want to make is that Britain may not be the largest country on the planet, it may not be the wealthiest but it is (and always will be) determined.

What do love most about Britain? Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
