Be Happy

It recently dawned on me that I absolutely love 'happy' music - this may have dawned on me whilst listening to JT's Can't Stop This Feeling for the billionth time this year and no, I'm not sorry at all. But then it also dawned on me just how hard it can be to be happy in the world we live in today.

I think happiness is something that we all take for granted from time-to-time, that wonderfully warm feeling of contentment that we get when we feel truly and irrevocably happy, that courses through our veins and that makes us feel invincible.

But what do you do when you don't feel invincibly happy? What do you do when feel slightly cold inside?

Well I guess you could say I fake it. There's not many things in life that I fake these days - gone are the false lashes, the weave and the nail extensions and I've tried to start appreciating the real me a little more. So if the only thing I fake is a little happiness now and again to boost my mood then thats ok right?

But happiness is all about those good endorphins, so when I say I fake it, what I mean is that I trick those sneaky little endorphins out of their hiding places and get them flowing by getting my happy on.

So how do I get my happy on?

Well if I can I jump in a hot, steamy shower and blast out my favourite songs while I do! Right now I am loving the new Liam Gallagher album so that is getting belted out a lot right now and that instantly lifts my mood.

I open all the windows and let some fresh air in, a lot of the time my unhappiness stems from FOMO and not feeling good enough and so I combat that with plenty of fresh air and by being grateful for everything that I have and everything that I have the opportunity to have right now.

I'll read, I'll cook or get out of the house for a few hours, getting away from it all really helps improve my mood because when I'm feeling super low every single thing I see online upsets or angers me more. I don't want to see that politicians (insert name of any political figure here) latest faux par or the latest person that is calling out bloggers for not working for free or for not being diverse enough or for being too 'clean'...

...I'll order a takeaway or suggest a date night to one of our favourite spots.

I will do anything that I know makes me feel happy.

I'm not saying that you have to be happy, but what I am saying is that a lot of the time we are in charge of our own happiness and instead of sitting back and taking the rough times, sometimes you have to take control of the situation and shake it off.

Now there's another song that instantly lifts my mood.

How do you get your happy on?
Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
