Embracing Change*

Oh hey Autumn, you're really here now aren't ya? It's currently just gone half past four on the penultimate day of October, the sun has already set and I'm all curled up on the sofa, lamp on and my candle crackling away in the backgrounds.
All I need is a blanket and I would be achieving peak hygge-ness!

Oh and maybe a nice lil glass of red.

I digress as always. But all this cold weather lately has really got me in the Autumn mood and I think it is really starting to show in my wardrobe, because alongside those gorgeous Superdry skirts (that I seemingly wore all Summer) there are now a number of knits and tops with sleeves as opposed to dainty vests and bodysuits.

My wardrobe no longer looks like my own.

I've always been a creature of habit, its just who I am and whilst I don't think there is anything wrong with sticking with what you know, I'm going through this crazy phase of 'embracing' new things and being 'adventurous'.

It's just a phase right? Everyone has one?

These three pieces that I recently picked up from Miss Pap for my London trip are just a few examples of the new styles I'm embracing this season.

Is there a more Autumnal colour than mustard, I don't think so. But as much as I love it, I have never dared to wear it before because I just didn't think it would work for me ... and maybe that was true when I had Rose Gold (pink) or Ruby Red hair, but now that I am sporting more natural hues, seemingly Mustard works well on me.

As well as being a colour I never wear, this knitted jumper is also a style that I rarely wear, a bardot. I tend to avoid bardot style tops and dresses because I often find them quite uncomfortable and feel self-conscious in them. This one doesn't though, this one makes me feel really cosy (I think the frilled cuffs help because they cover my hands a little) and because I feel as though I can layer this one over a vest or bra, I don't feel self-conscious either.

The two items that tie both of these outfits together are my favourite coated Topshop Joni Jeans and these faux suede (because why have real suede when the faux pieces look this good) Miss Pap Stiletto Boots, which to be honest have been tying many of my outfits together lately.

They're just that good!

Despite being on the short side (I could be described as a real short ass), I don't often wear high-heels as such. In fact most days I can be found in my Reeboks or Toms as my office doesn't have a dress code and I love nothing more than rolling out of bed and into my comfiest clothes and footwear. So when I decided to try out the old 'over-the-knee boot' look I thought I would also try out a seriously killer heel too.

Does anyone else feel as though they need to learn to walk again when putting on a pair of heels for the first time in ages? Having sported these out a few times now (and no I still haven't taken the sticker off from underneath because I'm a total twit at times) I feel as though I have just about got the hang of heels again ... so long as the floor isn't polished or carpeted that is!

Another item that I picked up was this striped Ruffle Sleeve top, a style I've always stayed away from because I honestly didn't think I had the cleavage to pull it off. So what changed? Well I certainly didn't, but I kinda came to the realisation that my 32C / D bra size wasn't actually that small and well I've kinda always believed that if you've got it, flaunt it!

I did feel terribly self conscious in this at first, but this blouse fits so well (it is extremely true to size) in all the right places and keeps everything where it should be, that in next to no time I was carelessly sipping Prosecco and chatting the night away with Mr D.

It seems that embracing new styles, new colours and the new season actually looks quite good on me, so long may it continue! In fact, I've already been looking at a few pieces for party season...

What new styles have you been embracing this Autumn? Picked up any new pieces?
Let me know below and I'll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
Some of these items may have been sent to me for review. Please see my disclaimer for more information.
