So now that May is over and I have spent a little bit of time looking back at my Match May I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite recipes using this little miracle powder.
I won’t go back over old ground too much as you can learn more about Matcha in my earlier post but all I will say that is in that little box there is a whole host of amino boosting, energy giving possibilities!
You can simply enjoy the benefits of Matcha by adding it to your morning brew or by whisking up a quick shot in a morning but I wanted to try a few more imaginative ways of incorporating this super hero green tea into my diet too.
First up I found that you can add a scoop of this powder to my morning smoothie without making any difference to the taste or texture. My favourite is one that I call Coconanapple where I blend together a glass of Coconut Milk, a Banana, a cup of Pineapple and a tablespoon of Coconut Yoghurt. It’s a wonderfully fresh way to start the day and the addition of Matcha just gives it a little boost in the energy giving stakes.
I also tried adding a scoop to my homemade Protein Truffles. For the truffles I mix together 70g of Protein Powder, 40g of Desiccated Coconut and 40g of Ground Almonds with 60-100ml of Almond Milk, adding the milk slowly until the mix becomes dough like. After throwing in a scoop of Matcha powder I just roll dough ball sized truffles together and place on a bit of parchment paper and roll them one by one in 60g of melted high cocoa dark chocolate. They make a brilliant pre or post workout treat and are a fraction of the cost of the bars you find in the shops!
Finally, overnight oats. I use the recipe from the ‘Deliciously Ella’ application that you can get from the App Store and just simply add a scoop of Matcha to the mix before leaving in the fridge over night.
So there you have it, a few imaginative ways to get more Matcha into my diet without having to make any changes to my diet. I really enjoyed trying out the Matcha powder and I would definitely try more of the Tea Pigs products as a result.
Have you tried Matcha before? Let me know your thoughts below and I’ll catch you again soon, until then though x
