It’s time for yet another instalment of my monthly fitness diary where I talk all things diet, exercise and well-being related from the last 4 weeks, however, it hasn’t exactly been the month I expected after my mammoth, motivated July…
So where did we leave off last time round… Oh yes, my pre-holiday weigh in! In January I decided to make a change and started to work hard in the gym, cleaned up my diet and adjusted my mindset. I didn’t quite hit my pre-holiday target weight, but I wasn’t far off and other results surpassed my expectations (14cms off of my hips in 6 months) and I am now comfortably back in clothes that I had pushed aside because of the weight I’d gained.
The first week of August was pretty much a write off in terms of health and fitness, our holiday was more about relaxing, catching up and spending some much needed time together than hitting the gym and being healthy. Although I didn’t go overboard in Italy (who am I kidding I ate all the carbs, literally) and so didn’t pile on the pounds too much, coming home was a massive shock to the system and it was a real struggle to get back into the swing of everyday life when I got back home.
I definitely felt as though I had left my mojo in Italy, most likely on my sun-lounger, but I think there lied the problem. It wasn’t necessarily my mojo that had gone, it was my motivation. Suddenly I was back in dreary old Blighty, the nights were drawing in and all I wanted to do was snuggle up on the sofa.
So this month has been more about damage limitation than progress in the end, but this week I’m starting to feel a little bit more like my old self again. I’ve set myself some new challenges, started a new regime and put some new goals in place.
I‘ve invested in Fitness Fondue’s 12 Week Fat Loss Plan, a great guide for those just starting out or for those like me that need a bit of a kick up the bum to get moving again. I’ve also been revisiting post’s over on Carly Rowena’s blog & watching her videos for some much needed inspiration and I’ve invested in another round of Bootea to get me going.
Here’s hoping that my mojo finds it’s way back, but someone much wiser than I told me “don’t panic it happens” when I told her it had gone astray last week, “have some time out, try swimming, get outdoors or concentrate on food”. Carly Rowena, you’re a total babe!
I‘d love to hear about what you’ve been getting up to in the gym this month or if you’ve been struggling too, let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon. Until then though x
