You may remember that during the summer I had to make the agonising decision as to whether keep or cancel my Birchbox subscription when I pitted its contents against those in Glossybox. You may also remember that Birchbox lived to fight another day. I thought I’d share with you this month’s box and see if Birchbox is still winning my affections…
Unlike most months, this month the subscriber got to choose (to an extent) what they would receive in their little box. You could either go for the the ‘Stylist’ edition, featuring five beauty must-haves, or the ‘Back to Basics’ edition containing five beauty essentials.
I already had one of the items in the Back to Basics box and so opted for the Stylist edition which featured five items I had never encountered before. Now I must admit I haven’t been able to try everything out yet so this is very much a first impressions post from here on in really!
The 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Glaze comes in the most wonderful packaging which is always appealing and it feels and looks just as good on the skin as it does in the bullet. However, I would say that this is more of a tinted balm as it has zero staying power and so needs to be regularly topped up, it’s also a little too soft and smudgy for my liking making it easier to stray out of the lip line when applying and also for me the shade just wasn’t right at all. Not sure why but peach shades do nothing for me!
Bioderma Sensibio H2O is something I have wanted to try for ages since I joined the micellar water bandwagon. My beloved and trust Garnier version is coming to an end so this has arrived at the perfect time and so I cannot wait to try it out.
Parlour Smoothing Blowout Spray is another thing that I have had a play with. I adore the peachy scent to this so much, it reminds me of a detangle spray I would use as a teenager (back when I had gorgeous long locks) and the fact that it tames my frizzy fro, protects it from further damage and look better for longer is a complete bonus.
Time for another blogger confession (sound the alarm) I have never tried any Rituals products at all. The Rituals Yogi Flow Foaming Shower Gel in this box smells amazing! It might just be enough to coax me out of bed in the morning!
You may be able to tell, however, I’ll admit it for the record anyway. I have not been kind to my skin over the past 30 years! Shocking I know. But if I’m honest I was never taught to be so that’s probably why. The When Travel Mate Sheet Mask is designed rehydrate and replenish the skin post long-haul or hard day outdoors in the elements. I’m looking forward to trying this little beauty out!
Finally there was a little bonus awaiting me in my box in the shape of English Laundry No7. I have tried their fragrances out before and loved them and this is no different and heading straight onto the Christmas list, Santa baby…
