Over the past few weeks I have come to realise and accept that ‘eating clean’ and ‘staying on track’ are not always possible. We’re all human and we all have our reasons for wanting to look, act and feel a certain way but what should we do when we don’t?
I’ve spent weeks (hell even months and years) chasing ideals; the ideal body, the ideal diet or lifestyle and when I’ve not been able to achieve the ideals I’ve felt terrible that I have ‘fallen off the wagon’, guilty that I couldn’t stick to the rules I’d been given by the latest guru on the block and generally ended up wallowing in self pity.
But as I said I’ve come to learn to accept that in order to live life as opposed to just existing within it occasionally we need to let go and when we do we need to do the following to get past those feelings…
H20Get up and get on it, the H20 that is! Water is one of the best cures when you’ve woken up feeling as though you have over done it the night before. Not into the good old taste of water? Try infusing it with Lemons & Limes instead for a zesty twist.
GUILT FREE Don’t feel guilty for enjoying those few slices of Pizza or glasses of Prosecco you had whilst relaxing in front of the TV last night, one ‘bad’ meal isn’t going to instantly make you gain a stone in the same way that one ‘good’ meal won’t instantly make you lose one.
RESTOREWoken up feeling heavy, bloated and sorry for yourself? Don’t head for the closest greasy spoon or fast food breakfast! Nourish your body instead – load it up with vitamin rich fruits, proteins and vegetables instead. Why not try an omelette if you fancy something warm and filling?
MOVE ITGet up off that sofa, pop on your trainers and move it. I’m not saying you need to hit the gym and smash your PBs but wrapping up and going for a wander around the park or even doing a little Yoga in your bedroom will the the blood flowing, the endorphins pumping and stop you wallowing all day.
LIVE LIFEI no longer use the terms ‘cheat’ or ‘treat’ when it comes to enjoying something a little naughty on a weekend. If I want a Pizza I’m going to have it, if I want a bit of Chocolate I’m going to get it, at the end of the day life is too short to not have a little of what you fancy sometimes.
