One thing I vowed to do this year was to make more time for those who mean the most to me in life, time away from the distractions of social media and the strains of every day. Thats just one reason why date night is back on the cards this year.
Date nights are the perfect way to get away from it all, the perfect excuse to get dolled up and the perfect opportunity to let your hair down a little.
For me date night starts the moment that I step foot in the bathroom to get ready, the second I hit play on my favourite Apple Music Playlist and set the shower going. I love spending a few hours on my own, singing my heart out and putting on my warpaint before heading out of the door.
You don’t have to break the bank to create the perfect date night though, I love the ones where you head to Pizza Express to exploit the Tastecard discount, where you head for a cheeky Nandos or the one where you simply go grab a movie.
But even though there are no strict rules in my book when it comes to where to go or what to do on a date night, there are a few essentials that dat night would be complete without.
TURN IT UPStart things off by firing up your favourite playlist (loud) and strutting your stuff in the bathroom whilst you get ready. You may not be off out to paint the town red but who says you can’t still warm up by singing your heart out in the shower?
FANCY PANTSThere’s nothing that makes me feel more confident on date night than a good (and preferably matching) pair of panties and bra. I love this set that I picked up from M&S last year and have found a similar style on the Adore Me site recently too, their lingerie selection is well worth checking out.
HEAVEN SCENT One of the last things I do before I leave the house on date night is spritz myself with perfume. My current favourite is the Pomegranate Noir Cologne from Jo Malone, a rich and dark fragrance laced with fruity top note, woody base notes and the sensual scent of Lillies at it’s heart.
FINISHING TOUCHES | I have fallen for the choker trend big time, maybe its the 90s child part of me? As much as I love my dainty and delicate ones, this lace lovely from ASOS usually gets the nod on date night!
LIP IT UP If there is one thing that is an absolutely must on date night its a bold lip. My choice of lippie changes almost everyday but one that has been in my arsenal for a while now is Charlotte Tilbury‘s Love Liberty Matte Revolution Lipstick. I love this collection of lippies for their buildability on the lips and also their durability.
How do you prepare for date night? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
