We all know that I’m a bit of a positive peach at heart and I don’t know about you, but I would much rather look forward at what I have ahead of me, than what I have left behind. Looking forward fills me with excitement, motivates me to work harder and helps me to focus that little bit more.
I’ve wanted to write a ‘looking forward’ kinda post for a while as I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret from you all (and no it is not a baby or a wedding before you all start) and whilst I can’t share that exciting little life update I thought I would sit down and have a little look ahead at what the next 90 days has in store and update you on some of my goals instead.
Disclaimer, I wrote this about 30 days ago now but it’s all pretty relevant still!
I recently read an awesome post by the wonderful Joseph Burrows which totally inspired (read: gave me a big old kick up the backside) to finally get around to writing this post and one of the things that he said should be on every to-do list is to write a to-do list, so …
Things To-Do Number 1 … Make a list of things to do!
Sometimes this can be easier said than done right? Especially if like me you like to plan out the next quarter as opposed to just the month. But the next few months for me are going to be super busy for me with a mixture of things going on so I’ve made a list of all the things I know I need to do before the end of June and feel a bit more organised knowing where I can and can’t afford to take on more tasks.
Things To-Do Number 2 … Get Organised!
So now that I have my to-do lists sorted, it’s time to get organised. I already have a 2018 planner that I note everything down in at home, but it’s the ad-hoc requests that get lost in the abyss and so I’ve bought myself a tiny little slimline diary that I can easily throw in my handbag whilst I’m out or working away to keep track of work trips, holidays and events.
I can’t tell you how much better I find this compared to using my iPhone diary!
I’ve also invested in some folders to start organising all of my admin … there’s everything from holiday paperwork to daily expense receipt files and just being that little more clutter free makes me feel a little more motivated to take on the world.
Things To-Do Number 3 … Be Sociable!
This was actually a few weekends ago, but I’m throwing it in because it was on my to-do list at the start of the month. The lovely Rhianna (and the lovely team at The Potting Shed) invited me along to try their new venue in Guiseley. I’ve also got a few more catch-ups penned in and after a quiet start to 2018 I’m looking forward to being a little more sociable over the next few months.
Things To-Do Number 4 … Out with the Old!
As the season’s change, I love nothing more than to have a good wardrobe clear out. At the start of the year I cleared out two big bags of clothes that I hadn’t worn over winter and donated them to a local charity and I’m going to do the same again over the next few weeks and try and reduce my wardrobe as much as I can.
Clutter be gone!
Things To-Do Number 5 … Take a break!
At the start of May I am taking my first time off of the year and boarding the big bird to Ibiza for one of my closest friends weddings! Mr D and I have decided to turn it into a mini-break and will be spending 6-nights on the Island recharging our batteries. If I’m honest Ibiza has never been high on my list of places to visit so I don’t really know what to expect from our break, but as long as there is sun, sand and vitamin sea then I’m sure we will return home happy.
And hopefully tanned (no offence guys, but if the UK is warmer than Ibiza whilst I’m there I will not be happy)!
Another reason for writing this piece is to set myself a few goals to work on over the next few months to because, and I don’t about you, if I make myself accountable to someone else I’m more likely to stick at them AND maybe even achieve them. So …
Goal 1 … Up My Blog Game!
At the start of the year I made a few changes to the ol’ blog … new logo, new newsletter and more focus, but unfortunately until now I’ve done little else to work towards this years goals. That’s why I’ve enrolled on Sophie Cliff’s ‘How to Grow Your Blog with a Full Time Job‘ e-course (for a little extra focus and motivation), why I’ve decided to action a few more pointers from my ‘Blog Audit‘ that the wonderful Jasmin Charlotte undertook for me in December and also freshen up my schedule.
Moving forward you can expect new posts on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s, a new video over on YouTube on Friday’s (all at 9am) and also a brand new version of ‘The Emma Edit‘ to land in your inbox on the 1st of every month!

Goal 2 … Start Working with a PT Again!
As part of my personal growth target for 2018, I’ve decided to start working with a PT again. After a shaky start to the year health & fitness wise, I am nowhere near as fit as I know I can be and as part of my ‘rehab’ I’ve booked in some time with a PT at my local gym to work on those 2018 goals … lower my body fat, stabilise my weight and learn how to squat heavier weights!
I also want to make sure I practice Yoga more frequently to increase my flexibility and to help prevent those niggling injuries and issues I’ve been encountering this year so far, from coming back.
Goal 3 … More Self Love, Less Self Hate!
Finally I want to start looking after myself more – to start eating better, to start taking more time out for me and to nourish my mind, body and soul on a regular basis.
I want to take more baths, wear more face-masks, spend more time outdoors when the sun is shining and more time curled up with a good book or magazine when it isn’t. I want to go on more dates with Mr D, spend more time putting the world to rights, planning our adventures and looking into the future.
I want to stop waiting for Friday, for Summer, for holidays and live more for now, because let’s face it we will never again be as young as we are today.
Well done if you made it to the end of this post, I know it’s been a long one! What’s on your to-do and goals lists this month? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
