4 Ways to Get Your Glow Back

I cannot start to put into words how amazing my week in Ibiza was last month ... it felt like a week long celebration of love and friendship and gave me an opportunity to really unwind for the first time this year. It was so nice to sit out, late into the night chatting, putting the world to rights and laughing until my sides hurt!

I'd forgotten how amazing feeling carefree is for your soul.


But I didn't come back glowing, I returned to the UK feeling a little bit hungover from a week of White Rioja (it's a game changer), Pizza (no cows milk FTW) and a lot of lounging around. I'm not too ashamed to admit that I've been struggling to get back into any form of routine since I got home and I've continued eating and drinking like it's going out of fashion, I've been to the gym once (once guys) and well I've simply not felt myself.

Until this week that is.






Hopefully by the time you're reading this (as I'm writing this it is Sunday afternoon and I should be getting ready for a date night with Mr D, but inspiration just struck so I gotta write yeah?) I've just been to the gym and heading to the office, my breakfasts and lunches are all prepared and I'm starting to feel on the ball again.

I feel as though I have got my glow back and I've not invested loads of time or money in regaining it either. So if you feel like you're losing your glow right now, here's four small steps you can take to get it back;

PACK THE PROTEIN | Often feeling sluggish isn't all down to being dehydrated, especially if you've had one too many glasses of vino the night before. 

It can also be a sign that your blood sugar levels are out of kilter too and upping your protein intake can help get it back on track.


Personally I love nothing more that a Mocha Smoothie to star the day when I'm feeling out of sorts and add a scoop of protein to give me a little boost, sometimes I'll have a couple of poached eggs as well if I'm feeling particularly 'munchy'!

PLAN AHEAD | I know your sugar cravings are sky high (we've already said your blood sugar levels are all over the place thanks to those Tequila shots that were such a good idea at the time) but the more sugar you have, the more you want and so the vicious circle starts.

So once you've had your protein rich meal that has got you feeling all satisfied (a Spanish Tortilla is always a winner in my eyes) why not do some meal planning instead of reaching for the biscuit tin? 


Right now some of my favourite meals are ones that are wholesome and quite nutri-dense too; think simple stir-frys, veggie filled ramen bowls and Gyros! By planning ahead, filling the house with wonderful fresh ingredients and preparing meals in advance I automatically up my vitamin intake and feel so much better for it. 

PRIORITISE YOURSELF | If you don't feel like going to the gym and sweating out those toxins, don't do it. The likelihood is if you go when you feel like that then you won't leave feeling any better for it. 

Instead you could take a walk, follow a simple yoga flow to get your limbs moving again or simply just meditate and let all of the stresses and strains of over indulgence melt away. Sometimes a night on the sofa, having a Mr Bean marathon can be just what you need to get you back on the straight and narrow.

In a world where we constantly prioritise everything but ourselves, we need to occasionally take a step back and look after number one!


PRACTICE SELF CARE | Accepting that you've done nothing wrong by enjoying yourself, is a big part of getting back on your feet.

We're human, we like to party.


A big part of prioritising myself is practising self-care on a regular basis and even more so after a big night out or holiday. I'll pop on a face mask, do my eyebrows, take a bath instead of a shower using my favourite BOD charcoal bath salts and concentrate on faking that glow until I make it.  

Sometimes just looking better can make you feel better!
