A Day in My Shoes

How much do we really know about our favourite bloggers? I mean yes we know a lot about their online personas but what do we really know about them as individuals? What do we know about their upbringing, what motivates them in life and what goes on behind the scenes?

I wanted to do a post today that may seem a little self indulgent to some (but hey it’s my blog and I can do what I like right?) and just talk about me. Talk a little about who I am and what I do away from blogging.

Now I don’t want this to sound like a moan, like I’m asking for the worlds smallest violin to play just for me but I don’t make much from blogging and I do this simply because I love it. It isn’t my career and I work as a Junior Digital Project Manager 9 – 5, Monday – Friday (well more like 8.30 – 4.30 but I’m not pedantic about things like that am I).

I love fitness and writing and hey presto I blog about it in my spare time hence this little corner of (cliche alert) the blogosphere exists.

It’s a passion, a hobby and something I enjoy.

So that might tell you a little more about who I am.

Typically my alarm goes off around 6am through the week and although in an ideal world at this time I leap out of bed and workout, that only tends to happen through the Summer as in Winter I am definitely a dozer and love the snooze button on my iPhone too much!

I never eat breakfast at home through the week, however, I do try to make sure I wake up with a glass of lemon water and prep my breakfast to take to work with me. Although I don’t have a set start time I always aim to be in the office by 8.30am so that I can leave in good time for the gym and get a good workout in.

I am the Tupperware queen in the office and over the past year or so have got quite good at preparing all of my meals in advance so that I can avoid as much processed and convenience food as possible. Breakfast at the moment tends to be a cereal and toast combo, not the healthiest option I know but I struggle with breakfast so I’ve tried to make sure I pack something I know I’ll enjoy and at the moment toast has been replaced by a Hot Cross bun instead.

Lunch for me usually consists of a portion of protein (around 130g Chicken, Turkey or Fish), 150g of veg and a handful of nuts. This might not seem like much but on the days where I feel I need a little more I will add wholegrain rice or some lentils to keep me full until tea time.

I always have a mid afternoon coffee break and at this point I quite like to have a sweet treat too and have found that Grenade’s Carb Killa Bars are the best thing to curb my sugar cravings. They’re packed with protein too so I love to have one pre or post gym depending on my appetite. Plus I love a good mid-afternoon Coffee too.

Once I leave the office, I head straight to the gym (unless I get a better offer of course) and get my sweat on. I’m going to revive my monthly ‘Fitness Diary’ this month so won’t bore you with all the details now, but at the moment I’m concentrating on doing a lot of cardio exercise in preparation for the Leeds Half next month.

As much as I want to spend a few hours in the gym, in reality I also want to be home and eating no by about half 7. As you will know by now I’ve been suffering with digestion problems for a while now and it seems that eating earlier (and better) is the best way to control them.

After tea its time to check in on the emails, make sure that everything is written and scheduled for the next day, that I have something to wear and eat the next day. Then its time to wash the day out of my head, chill out and at the moment watch some Parks & Recreation before bed. I love that last quiet half hour before bed, it’s my favourite part of the day.

You see for that last half hour before I close my eyes I can truly relax, safe in the knowledge that everything is done, that everything is ready to go and that after a good nights sleep I’ll be ready to kick ass once again.

What’s your favourite part of the day?
Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
