Birchbox: The Benefit Edition

When I received an email a few weeks ago about the latest limited edition Birchbox, I could barely contain my excitement. Benefit was one of the first makeup brands that I truly embraced back in my teens, with Dandelion, Hoola & Benetint being my daily essentials!

Overtime my Benefit collection started to resemble one of their concessions and their makeup artists probably taught me more than most when it came to application.

So when it came to choosing whether or not to opt in for the Benefit ‘Good Things Come in Small Packages’ Birchbox it was a bit of a no-brainer for me.

What’s in the box? Although Birchbox state that this box has been created with mum’s or mum’s to be in mind, I think any beauty maven would love to receive it as it contains products to brighten up your skin (and day) in an instant, both from a makeup and a skincare perspective.

Starting off with skincare, you will find a sample (or travel-sized if you’re already planning your travels like I am) pot of their amazing ‘It’s Potent! Eye Cream’ which is full to the brim natural active ingredients to help soothe, repair and restore tired little peepers to their well rested glory days. Another favourite of mine in the box is the ‘Instant Comeback Facial Serum’ which again is in a sample/ travel sized bottle. I first received this at Christmas and find that it is the perfect pick me up when my skin is looking and feeling a little dull. Also it absorbs into the skin so quickly and easily that I can happily apply under makeup too.

Would you class primer as skincare? I’m not sure but there is also a little tube of their ‘the POREfessional’ primer inside too and I love applying this every morning to create a silky smooth base for my makeup to sit on.

Moving onto the make up and a new product to me is ‘Dew The Hoola’ and I have been taken by surprise by this new liquid bronzer in the Benefit family. Years ago ‘You Rebel’ was a product that I tried out and failed to get on with. I always looked as though I’d been tangoed! However, this lightweight, liquid version of one of the best known bronzer’s in the world gives the skin that subtle glow we all crave in the warmer months.

‘Benetint’ and the ‘Benebalm Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm’ are two of Benefits most iconic products. I love using both on the lips (sometimes together) for that subtle, rose-tinted flush, however, I’m useless at applying a tint to the cheek no matter how hard I try!

I was really excited to try out the ‘Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer’ as my NARS Smudgeproof has pretty much now run out. At the moment the jury is out on how well this primer performs as at the moment it seems to have good days and bad ones!

Finally no Benefit Edition box would be complete without ‘They’re Real! Mascara’ the UK’s no.1 best-selling mascara! I love using this for evenings where i want to create those perfect Bambi eyes and look more awake that I actually am!

Over all I have been really impressed with the contents of the box and if nothing else my cosmetics bag will be a little lighter on my travels this year! I think the addition of the Benefit sleep mask is a really nice touch, especially if you’re buying the box as a gift as it will give them something to keep once the products have run out.

Have you picked up the ‘Good Things Come in Small Packages’ box yet?
