Confidence in Couture

As little girls we often dream of becoming princesses and wearing pretty dresses everyday. In reality we spend most of our days cooped up in four walls, staring at computer screens and wearing whatever is comfiest instead and dread the days where we have to make a little more effort instead.

Weddings are something that I both really look forward to and dread at the same time. When it comes to dressing up I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I am doing; what I should wear, how do my hair and what makeup I should use. Much of this stems from a lack of confidence in myself, but I’ve found a few things that help to boost my self confidence whilst I’m feeling under pressure.

NOURISH | The best way to start the day is to prepare yourself on the inside, fill yourself with fresh, healthy, nourishing food as opposed to anything heavy and greasy that will make you feel sluggish and won’t fill you for long. From experience I know full well that I feel, look and perform better on a nice fresh omelette as opposed to anything fried or bready.

PREPARE | I know I have said this time and time again but if you ‘fail to prepare, prepare to fail’. The night before, hang your dress on the front of your wardrobe, make sure your favourite (and matching of course) lingerie is ready and waiting for you once you’ve had your shower and have your makeup sat ready and waiting you by your mirror. This will help you to stay cool, calm and collected on the most hectic of mornings.

DRESS | I totally believe (in the same way that there is someone for everyone) there is the perfect dress out there for you regardless of your shape, size or colouring. In the past I have avoided maxi-dresses a little as I didn’t think that they suited me because I’m on the petite (short) side, however, I recently learnt that all I needed in a maxi-dress was a waist!

This dress from Jody Bell made me feel a million dollars, the cut and fit is perfect for my height and shape, the colours bring out all of my good qualities making me look healthier, healthier and overall more confident. Plus the muted tones look perfect against the English countryside backdrop!

Although the dress is very Grecian in it’s long, flowing style, it definitely made me feel like a Yorkshire Rose and hid all of those little parts of me that I’m not so keen on and really accentuated those parts that I love.

What do you do to boost your confidence? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
