Don’t Be a Dick

Lately there seems to be so much more negativity and hatred in the air. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not always a “Positive Peach’ but nor am I a total ‘Moaning Myrtle’ or ‘Negative Nancy’ either. At least I hope not.

For the purpose of this post I am loaning the ‘don’t be a dick’ phrase from those lovely guys on Channel 4s The Last Leg. A show that openly addresses the bigger dicks in this world, those that have got to where they are by being obnoxious, bigoted bullies with no regard for the lives of other. Those that incite hatred and that create divides and that live in their own little bubbles whilst wearing their rose tinted glasses.

You know the type of people I mean right? I know that the above is a massive indirect but I ain’t naming names here because they’d like that.

Anyhoos, this post is about the big dicks in this world, its about the little ones.

Those who always try to piss on your parade for doing something good, for making a breakthrough or for achieving something that they never could.

Those who never have a good word to say about anyone or anything, bitch & moan about everything in life but never do anything to make a difference and believe that everything should be done they way they want it.

Those who truly believe that world revolves around them, that they are the only ones with issues or problems and that we should all dance to their tune.

I was always taught that if you don’t have anything nice to say then you shouldn’t say it at all, that we should all support & champion one another and that most importantly manners cost nothing.

So to those people out there that want to try and bring others down to make them feel better about themselves, that fail to see two sides to a story and that always take the easy option I say stop, look around you and listen to the world around you.

There are too many dicks in this world with you adding to that number.

It costs nothing to be kind, it costs nothing to spread a little happiness and it costs nothing to put a smile on your face every once in a while.

So instead of bitching about that girls outfit tell her how much it has caught your eye, instead of spreading that idle bit of gossip why not champion someone for something good they have done or simply just smile at someone instead of avoiding eye contact.

These tiny little actions could make someones day, maybe even your own.

What would you like to say to the dicks of this world? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
