For me the holiday starts from the moment you click ‘book’ on the agents website. From that moment on I build up a list of things I need before I go away and things that I could get whilst I’m away. Although I’d not long returned from Gran Canaria my trip to Porto was no different.
I arrived in Manchester morning with a short list of four products to add to my makeup cabinet at home; a new Clinique Chubby Stick Foundation, Eye Shadow Primer, a new Eyeshadow Palette and the infamous Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find the Primer or Palette I had had my eye on but after picking up my beloved foundation I headed to Jo Malone and took full advantage of the 20% discount you can get at the airport. Pomegranate Noir to me is the signature Jo Malone fragrance and I love that it is so concentrated that you can still catch the scent lingering in the air around you hours after putting it on.
It didn’t end there.
As I was flying on November 26th my airline were still taking full advantage of dangling the ‘Black Friday’ carrot. I’d already got my eye on on a Bobbi Brown Eyeliner duo anyway but the fact that it had an additional 20% off sealed the deal for me.
But that’s not all from (what turned into) my holiday haul, oh no!
Whilst in Porto we partook in a little tour of the Graham’s Caves and enjoyed a little tasting session (pop back Saturday for more on that) and of course I wanted to bring home a little something as a memento, however, I was travelling light and there was no bottle of port going to get by security.
And so I opted for a big old bar of Dark Chocolate infused with Graham’s own Six Grapes Port, a combination of two of my favourite things!
On the Monday afternoon we stumbled upon a massive department store on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the Douro which inside house the holy grail of beauty bloggers, a Sephora concession. Finally I was reunited with my favourite Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion that I had bee searching for and with 20% off my bank balance was certainly thanking me for making the trip!
Alas Monday was our last day, but I made sure there was a little bit of time left to shop for last minute mementos in the airport before we border the place home. We picked up a nice bottle of Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port that will go down nicely over Christmas alongside the Chocolate we picked up at the caves.
I love Duty Free shopping and yes you don’t have much time at the airport usually but if you go in with a list of things you really need or want then you can pick up some real bargains.
Are you a Duty Free hauler? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
