Fitness Bytes with Eleanor May C

Welcome to another ‘Fitness Bytes’ your fortnightly dose of reality with the shining stars of the health and fitness blogging community. We may make it look easy on our blogs and Instagram feeds, but we’re only human and here’s why…

Today’s ‘Fitness Bytes’ features the brains behind ‘Green+Aquamarine’ Eleanor May C, a blogger on a mission to find the best way to live that  not only benefits our minds and bodies, but little old planet Earth too!

Who are you & how would you describe your current lifestyle? I’m Eleanor May C, a trainee yoga teacher and university student. I write the yoga and wellbeing blog Green+Aquamarine, where I post yoga posts, recipes and wellbeing articles.

What type of exercise are you currently doing? My main form of movement is yoga, which I try to do daily for at least a few minutes. I believe it is important to train in a variety of ways, so also try to incorporate strength training, circuits, pilates and running or other cardio into my training schedule. So there’s a bit of a mix! I love going to classes to push myself.

How many times a week?Ideally I like to move in some form every day, but at varying intensities.

How long have you been doing it?I’ve been practicing yoga for around four years.

Being honest, have you been consistent? Mostly – but if I feel stressed I’m really bad at practicing as I can’t focus so well! I normally prefer to practice in the mornings, but something about Winter has left me really tired, so I have been letting myself sleep in and practice for a shorter time or later in the day.

Are you getting the results you want – Yes or No? Yes and no – I’m getting stronger and more capable, which I think is what we should be focusing on. I’d love to see aesthetic results, but know it isn’t the thing we should be focusing on – I ended up writing a post on it recently (Being Okay About Not Seeing Aesthetic Results from Training).

How do you feel about your current level of fitness?Generally good, although the last few months I have been living in Germany with less than exciting workout prospects, so have found it hard to push myself in the same way. I have been focusing more on my yoga and weight training though, which has been an advantage. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back to the UK and having a trainer motivate me!

What are you looking to achieve? Why?I’m really looking forward to qualifying as a yoga teacher and being able to start teaching! I’d also love to get more stable in my forearm stand and increase my pull up count to five -I’ve been stuck on three forever!

When are you looking to reach your goal by?I should be qualified by the end of August, and I’d love to reach five pull ups during summer!

How important is it to you to achieve your goal(s)?It would be fantastic to reach my pull up goal but I know at the end of the day it isn’t the most important thing!

Finally … What would you say to inspire others?Value where you are in your journey now, and not an uncertain future.

I love Eleanor’s passion for moving, eating well and turning negatives into positives… Most people would probably have taken a little fitness ‘hiatus’ if they were unable to maintain their usual training regime but Eleanor pushed her focus onto things she could maintain and has felt the benefits as a result.

You can catch up with Eleanor over at Green+Aquamarine as well as over on Instagram and Twitter too.

I hope you have enjoyed this months ‘Fitness Bytes’? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
