Fitness Bytes with Harmony Blaze

Welcome to another ‘Fitness Bytes’ your fortnightly dose of reality with the shining stars of the health and fitness blogging community. However, this week you’ve got little old me! We may make it look easy on our blogs and Instagram feeds, but we’re only human and here’s why…

Who are you & how would you describe your current lifestyle? | For those who are new to this little corner of the blogosphere (the blogosphere must be really pointy don’t you think?) I’m Emma aka HarmonyBlaze. I work and live in West Yorkshire and in my spare time you are most likely to find me in the gym or blogging!

What type of exercise are you currently doing? |I do such a mixture of workouts over the course of a week because I like to keep it varied and interesting. I love doing classes because they keep me motivated and committed on the days I really feel like giving in and try to squeeze in Body Pump, Circuits, Spin & Fat Burn classes during the week alongside a few fasted cardio sessions and some hypertrophy training.

How many times a week? I train 5 or 6 days a week which some people think is a lot but I find that this is what my body needs and responds to. It also helps me de stress hence I go every night after work and sleep easier. 

How long have you been doing it? | I’ve had gym memberships for the past 8 or 9 years but I’ve probably started to take it more seriously over the last year or so.

Being honest, have you been consistent? | Previously no, at the moment yes. I find it so much easier to stay committed when I have an end goal to work toward and at the moment I’m one week in to my twelve week holiday countdown. Focused is an understatement!

Are you getting the results you want – Yes or No? | This year I’ve been starting to, changing up my routine and adding in cardio sessions and hypertrophy workouts seems to have just triggered my muscles and I finally feel as though I am getting somewhere.

How do you feel about your current level of fitness? | That it could be better and that it will be. 

What are you looking to achieve? Why? | Something that I have touched upon on here before is that other people don’t really understand what I am looking to achieve through fitness. However, I’ve never felt totally happy with how I look. I have a small frame naturally, I’m only a little 5ft 2er and I have petite features, so any ‘weight’ that I carry is really noticeable, To me any way. I want to lose the excess body fat, tone up and most importantly of all I want to feel body confident.

When are you looking to reach your goal by? | My goal is a complete work in progress and I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself but if I could I would love to get there by my holiday!

How important is it to you to achieve your goal(s)? | Very – this is something that I have always wanted to achieve and I finally feel as though I have the tools, motivation and that I am doing it the right way and for the right reasons.

Finally … What would you say to inspire others? | Don’t let ‘the fear’ control anything that you do – work out what  you want from life and go for it.
