Fitness Bytes with Sian Ryan

Welcome to another ‘Fitness Bytes’ your fortnightly dose of reality with the shining stars of the health and fitness blogging community. We may make it look easy on our blogs and Instagram feeds, but we’re only human and here’s why…

Who are you & how would you describe your current lifestyle? I am Sian, a 25 year old fitness fanatic who wasn’t always this way! I have lost a total of 85lbs so far, and have completely changed my lifestyle around. I love exercise, healthy food and the odd dominos here and there! I love to blog about fitness and my own weight loss journey on my blog, and love documenting on my fitness Instagram!

What type of exercise are you currently doing? How many times a week? Currently I am lifting 4/5 times a week and trying to add in 2-3 times HIIT cardio and lots of stretching!!

How long have you been doing it? I have only been doing this September 2015, so makes me a year and a bit on my journey!

Being honest, have you been consistent?I think so, even if its 80% of the time.

Are you getting the results you want – Yes or No? Overall in the big picture I am, but currently no. I have been off track for a while with injuries and lack off motivation, but I am ready to start kicking butt again!

How do you feel about your current level of fitness? I think my current level of fitness is incredible to what it use to be, but I still can’t run a 5k without stopping lol!!

What are you looking to achieve? Why? I have so many goals I want to achieve! I want to hit my goal weight, I want to deadlift 100kg, I want to bench 50kg, I want to properly learn to box, I want to be a yoga boss, I want to do the splits! I just want all my fingers in all the pies! I want to healthy, fit and strong and keep pushing myself to see what I can achieve.

When are you looking to reach your goal by?I want to hit my weight goal by the middle of 2017, and my strength goals hopefully by the end of 2017. But there will always be new goals and new goal posts to hit!

How important is it to you to achieve your goal(s)? I think its important to have goals, and its great to achieve them, but we shouldn’t base our success off if we hit these goals or not. Looking back I have done incredible things, but because i haven’t hit my weight loss goal this year, its easy to lose sight of that. I think its important to have goals to help keep us focused and motivated, but important to see everything else too!

Finally … What would you say to inspire others? | Just start small, get started and stay consistent! Consistency is such a big key to everything! If you fall down, just keep getting back up! Little steps all add up to the big ones!

I think Sian’s outlook on what she has achieved is one we should all have, sometimes we might not meet our end goal but we will have achieved a hell of a lot along the way and we should be proud of that and in future when I need some motivation I think I’ll turn to Sian! You can follow Sian’s journey over her blog (which has an awesome new look for 2017), on Twitter and of course on Instagram too.

What are your goals for the gym in 2017? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
