Merry Christmas guys and gals, I hope you all had a fab time and have enjoyed all the festivities as much as I have. You may, or may not, have noticed that it has been a little bit quiet around here over the past few weeks and I though that today would be a good day for us to sit down and have a catch up.

So grab yourself another glass of Cava (or a brew if you’re all fizzed out) and let’s do this.
When Mr D and I booked our pre-Christmas getaway to Gran Canaria, I had every intention of writing and scheduling a whole host of posts that would go up whilst I was on holiday. I even penned quite a few and started to pop them in my planner.
But then as the days rolled by and our departure date grew ever closer, I started to stress and panic at the lack of content I actually had ready to go over the festive period.
When I really didn’t have time to.
It was only on the night before we flew, when my ‘Blog Audit‘ landed in my inbox, that I realised that my lack of content could actually be a blessing in disguise. At that moment (less than 10 hours before we needed to set off for the airport) I decided that after 3 years of constant yammering on on here, it was time to take a break.
Now I’m not saying that sitting here wrapped on my sofa and typing a few hundred words a few times a week is hard work, but doing that alongside a full-time job that I’m still relatively new to and trying to look after myself and my health and wellbeing, well it can be really draining.
A quick flick through the output that Jasmin had sent over immediately confirmed a few changes that could be made that I had been toying with the idea of for a while.
Whilst I wanted to maintain a presence online whilst I was away, I knew that the perfect time had presented itself to to go through the site with a fine tooth comb, to rebrand and reposition it slightly and to make those changes I had been putting off.
And so from my sun-lounger I started to go through the audit and my site and to start to put together a list of changes to make, areas to look at and an action plan for the first few months of 2018. I haven’t made many changes to HarmonyBlaze over the last 18 months or so and it has served me well; I’ve worked with Tena, Jack Wills, Zizzi, Boohoo, Beanies, MissPap, Tobi & Bioderma to name just a few. I’ve run a half marathon, trained with Carly Rowena and visited 5 countries, 3 of which for the first time!
You may have already noticed a few changes – the new logo being the most obvious (I wanted something sleeker), a tidier sidebar and a few less categories, which I have worked on over the past few days.
They say a change is as good as a break and I’ve had both over the past two weeks which feels incredible, I have so many ideas for content that I want to get out there for you, I have so many brands that I want to work with over the next 12 months and so many adventures that I want to go on and share with you.
This time last year I said that I didn’t want to end 2017 with any regrets and you know what? I’m not, I don’t regret taking a break because that break has reignited a creative spark in me that has been missing the past month or so, I don’t regret putting less content out there this year because I feel that what I have put out there has been more meaningful and engaging and I don’t regret saying no to things that haven’t ‘felt right’ because I want to remain true to myself.
So here’s to the next 12 months and to even more changes – you will soon notice that my posting times will change, that the site will move from Blogger to WordPress and that I will become (hopefully) a little more regular with my videos over on YouTube too.
New Year, New Site, Same Old Me.
What do you think of the new look?
