I’ll Bring You Flowers

As I sat here trying to encourage the words to start flowing and the creative fire within me to ignite, I kept coming back to the song by Sweet Female Attitude in the early naughties…

…I’ll bring you flowers, in the pouring rain and that is exactly what OK Bouquet did for me last week. Granted it wasn’t raining, it was snowing and it was their courier that brought them to me but you get my drift yeah?

A few years ago I spent the Easter weekend in London with my family and was introduced to the amazing Columbia Road Flower Market by my Auntie & Uncle whilst I was there. It was the beginning of a love affair with fresh blooms, colour and scents.

I spent most of my time growing up being crippled with chronic hay fever and therefore never had the luxury of fresh flowers in the house because they would instantly set off my eyes streaming, my nose twitching and my throat scratching.

But these days flowers make me happy.

I love having a seasonal bouquet on display in my kitchen or sat proudly atop my shelves in the living room and in Spring my bloom of choice is the Tulip. I think I have a nostalgic attachment to them as I can remember my Grandma singing ‘Tulips from Amsterdam’ to me as a youngster and I adore their light fragrance and bright colours. They add a little light to even the darkest corner.

My ‘Spring Tulips Bouquet’ from OK Bouquet was delivered to my door by Interlink Express and inside the box stood proud an elegant array of pretty pastel Tulips. A larger bouquet than I could have ever imagined, I was pleased to see that inside the cellophane wrap that was loosely hugging the Tulips was a moisture tank that allowed the flowers to get all of the water that they needed to look as perfect on arrival as they did when they were wrapped. This allowed me to leave my flowers overnight without fear of them drooping and pick up a large enough vase the next day.

They say that flowers will make your day and make my day they did and they still are as they continue to bloom.

What is your favourite Spring bloom?

Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
