It’s Good to Talk

We all handle and deal with our emotions in very different ways, we are all very different people with differing mindsets and there is no ‘one-size fits all’ way to manage our mental health. This year, more that any other, I have become very aware of my own mental health and in turn, the mental health of those around me too.

And it has been quite an eye opening experience.

I cannot begin to comprehend what some of my friends and acquaintances have (or are) going through right now.  Some of them have been very vocal about their sufferings and I cannot applaud them enough for having the strength and courage to do this, to speak up for those who still feel alone in their struggles but that need to be heard.

I’ve reached out, I’ve listened and I’ve been overwhelmed and saddened by what some of them have been going through inside.

And I know that it is easy for me to sit here and type this, to say that it is good to talk, but I don’t think enough of us take that simple step and shout from the rooftops that we are here if we are ever needed. For me, opening up has never come easy – remarkably, for someone who very much enjoys whiling away the hours pouring their heart and soul into blog posts for the world to read, I’m not that good with words. So trust me, I know how hard it can be to vocalise your emotions and that is why my DMs, my inboxes etc. are always open if you too prefer to vocalise in writing.

Life is often far from simple and throws hurdles in our way and often we can’t tackle these hurdles alone; ill physical health, self-confidence, loss or neglect, stress … all of these things can have a negative effect on our mental wellbeing and do not need to be tackled alone.

I’m no expert, but I want everyone out there to know that it’s good to talk and there is no shame is shouting out.
