There are two times of the year where I seemingly embrace lip products more than others; deepest darkest winter and the warm midsummer months. Here are my ‘fantastic five’ lip colours for this Winter…
I think most of us tend to lean more towards the deeper, more berry toned shades in Winter, I guess they’re just a little bit more seasonal.
One of my latest additions is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty. I absolutely love this formula as it is very easy to apply and it doesn’t feel as though it drags the lips as much as other matte options. A beautiful, deep berry shade that flatters all skin tones that is beautifully presented in a very on trend rose gold bullet.
Last Christmas’ addition was the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Olivia, one I had tried out in store and fallen head over heels for. This is slightly more red than the Charlotte Tilbury one above but equally as luxurious to wear. It looks stunning with a soft and subtle smoky eye and will look just as good on Valentines Day as Christmas Day. Definitely a keeper.
The only gloss in my selection is the Fleur de Force collection at FeelUnique. I tend to stay away from glosses at Christmas simply because they have very little staying power and let’s face it we don’t have time to top up too frequently do we. However, Lucky Star is a candy cane red that is too cute not to put in a Christmas selection and is so pigmented and glossy it is irresistable.
At the moment I am totally fangirling over Kat Von D’s makeup and in particular the Lolita Liquid Lipstick. I am wearing this in my latest YouTube video and I actually think it is one of the best lip products I have ever worn. These liquid lipsticks are so durable and require no building to get a full colour block on the lips. The shade itself is a rose brown, a warm shade with lots of personality and one that looks just as good in the office as it does on the dance floor.
My old friend, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong, is back for a second season in my party bag! I’m sure you will have heard all about this by now as it is probably the best drugstore liquid lipstick available at the moment and the colour is so vibrant it just screams party. I love wearing this with a bronzed, smoky eye for a full on festive feel.
Finally the Real Techniques Retractable Lip Brush is an absolute must if you’re looking for a crisp line, especially for products like the Nars one above. Well worth picking one up on your next visit to Boots or Superdrug, especially if there’s a 3-for-2 on!
So that’s it for my Luscious Winter Lips selection, what would your choices be? Let me know below and I will catch up with you again at 6.30pm tomorrow, until then though x
