My Fitness Diary – April 15 Edition

As the wintery weather lets go of it’s monopoly on the UKs climate control and our thoughts start to turn more towards holidays, sunshine and beaches there’s one big bikini sized alarm bell sounding in our ears. It’s time to get serious…

So his month I’ve completely changed my approach. As I now have a little more time on my hands to commit to my fitness I have been getting up early and doing 20 minutes fasted cardio exercise first thing in a morning, stretching my legs more by going for short walks at lunch and also going to the gym in the evening for at least an hour. I’ve been doing this Monday to Friday and then having Saturday & Sunday as rest days. Fasted cardio can sound a little extreme & daunting but I actually think it’s one of the best things I have ever done exercise wise as it really energises me for the day ahead.

In the gym I’ve been doing more ab work, trying to get at least 2 runs a week in as well as taking in a few classes. One thing that I have wanted to do is increase the weight I was using for deadlifts & squats. This week I started on a 20kg bar which may not sound much, but to me is a great milestone!

Also this week marks the end of my Daily Greatness Journal & the end of my second 6 week PT block and I can’t wait o report back as I do feel so much better than I did back in January. As I said to my PT today, I’m on it!

I’ve also started eating a little differently too. I’ve started prepping all of my lunches on a Sunday evening and been using Quorn products in them instead of meat or fish. By having them all ready to go in the fridge I now have no excuse in a morning not to take anything with me or purchase something cheap & naughty at work!

Evenings are a little different too, I’ve cut my portion sizes right down and in particular my carbs! As much as I love them I’m fairly confident they cause me to pile on the pounds quickly. Oh and at the other end of the day I have been adding Rice Protein to my morning smoothies. I find it a great way to get an AM protein boost and because is low GI I don’t get a mid-morning slump as I do with standard protein mixes.

In other news I have new trainers at last and I have added some new kit to my collection recently as well. With the amount of time I’m spending training I needed to! I don’t want to go on too much about these now as I’ve not given them a thorough testing yet but I’ll get back to you on that.

Be sure to pop back Saturday for my ‘Rocking Fit Body’ results! I’m excited to see how I’ve done…

How have you go on this month?  Let me know below and I’ll catch you again soon, until then though x
