My Fitness Diary – June ’16 Edition

This has been a year of breakthroughs for me both mentally and physically when it has come to my health and fitness. I’ve learnt the importance of rest and eating the right amount and the learning curve hasn’t ended there.

My Month | This month I set out determined to make some changes and progress and first of all I needed to change my mindset. Although I have been working hard recently I knew I could be working harder and the reason being I had nothing to work towards, I’m very goal orientated.

So I booked myself a holiday to work towards. Mid-September? Gran Canaria? Yes please!

I’ve set myself a new goal (I’ll fill you in at the end of the post) and I’ve teamed up with with the lovely Sophia Hall at Nalu Active to give myself the best chance I have of achieving it. Sophia has given me some amazing advice on maximising my workouts and fueling my body and the past week since I started with her has been fantastic.

New lesson learned, fuel yourself right.

My Workout of the Month | Also this month I’ve picked up my cardio game and I’ve started to do spinning again a couple of times a week. I really enjoy being in the saddle, mixing it up and building up a sweat a couple of nights a week. I’m hoping that picking up my cardio a little and increasing my weight training will get me looking my best for the beach this year.

My Kit of the Month | One of my biggest splurges this month has been my MyProtein order and I can safely say that it was worth every penny, especially their Soy Protein Isolate. Standard Whey can make me feel a little sluggish and bloated by the end of the day but I don’t get any of that with the Soy Protein. I picked up the unflavoured option and a couple of the Flavdrops (Mocha & Maple) and I have been really enjoying my new shakes.

My Meal of the Month | I have rediscovered my love of meal prep again thanks to my Nalu Active plan and one of my favourite lunches at work has been steamed Salmon, Veg & a few Cashew nuts. Yum.

My Track of the Month | There are so many good tracks around at the moment and one of my favourites is the latest track from Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris, Hype. It’s a good one to lift to!

Goals & Achievements | So as I said above I’ve set myself some new goals to work towards in the run up to my holiday and I want to reiterate I’m not all about the weight loss when it comes to fitness as I don’t believe that this is always a true indicator of where you are and what you have achieved. However, when I started on my Carb Cycling plan with Sophia I was sitting at 59.9kgs and although I had got into the 58s it had started to creep back up as I got complacent and well, lazy. My holiday weight goal is 55.7kg, a loss of 4.2kgs over 12 weeks which should be more than achievable. This would see back down to to the same weight I was in 2009 but in much better shape.

Aside from weight loss I want to lower my body fat as always because that is way more important to me and also I want to lose a few inches from my thighs and hips.

Talk about hitting hard!

In order to achieve the above I am going to be hitting the gym 5 or 6 days a week, squeezing in at least 3 fasted cardio sessions and following the food plan set for me. It’s all about balanced eating, not a restricting diet.

How about you guys? What have you been doing this month and what have you achieved/ planned to achieve? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
