My Fitness Diary – Oct 20th

One of my favourite pass times is going to the gym, I really enjoy heading there after work to unwind and getting my weekend off to a good start with a workout on a Saturday morning. However, lately I haven’t been going and found myself getting bored with the same old routine. So I’ve decided to mix it up a little…

Until recently I used to run 3 times a week in addition to attending a few LBT & Body Pump classes. But the routine had become monotonous and more like a chore than something I enjoyed and looked forward to.

With going away and a hectic first week back afterwards, I’ve neglected my fitness and I was struggling to get the motivation together to get back in the gym this week. So I decided to invest a little bit of time and money in myself.

Firstly I downloaded the 12-week Lean & Sculpted Workout Guide from Fit Affinity. This ebook is something I have had my eye on for a while having followed Fit Affinity on Instagram for the last 12 months. Designed for both fitness newbies and intermediate exercisers it acts a complete introduction to losing weight healthily and building lean muscle (the type we dream of). It takes you through goal setting, busts fitness myths and as you may have already guessed a complete 12-week training programme. Reduced from $70.00 to $24.99, I feel that this is a worthy investment, you couldn’t even get 1 PT session for that never mind 3 months worth!

Next up I visited the Fabletics. Co-founded by Kate Hudson, Fabletics is an fantastic new way to look good in the gym. Fabletics is a monthly subscription service, similar to the beauty box trend, you take a short survey upon signing up regarding your fitness style which generates ‘your picks’. Each pick features an entire outfit for the gym and prices start from just £22 for your first order (£44 for future months). I chose the Tanami outfit as I thought it would be perfect for sessions such as Pilates, it should arrive later this week and I can’t wait to see what it’s like.

I also equipped myself with some gadgetry in the form of the Weight Watchers Body Analyser Scales (£24.99, Argos) and the brilliant MyFitnessPal app for my iPhone. 

Body Analyser Scales differ from traditional weight scales in that they also offer you information on your BMI, Body Fat & Body Water percentages making goal setting a breeze. They’re only marginally more expensive than traditional scales and the ultra thin, sleek design enables them to look at home in any bathroom.

Finally MyFitnessPal, a free app available for iOS and Android users, allows you to track your calorie intake and macronutrients on a meal by meal basis, identify areas for improvement and monitor your process along your fitness journey. I find it really helps to see the intake and it makes you think twice before having that extra can of pop or mid-afternoon sweet treat. It’s simple to use and makes meal planning a breeze.

I’m going to do a fitness diary each Monday to let you all know how I’ve been getting on and hopefully next Monday, as well as my goals, I’ll have some progress to share.
