My Hello Fresh Experience

A few weeks ago I received a voucher to get £25 off of one of Hello Fresh’s food hampers and after doing a little research into them I thought I would give them a go and share my experience with you all.

What is Hello Fresh I hear you ask, well each week for a small fee they will deliver a hamper to you filled with tasty, nutritious & healthy recipes and ingredients. You can tailor the boxes to suit you – there’s family options, meat free options and you can always swap meals out of your selection if there’s something that you don’t like.

One thing that really attracted me to Hello Fresh is that all of the meals are quick and easy to make – most nights I don’t get in from the gym until gone 7.30 so healthy convenience foods are a big winner in my eyes! Your hamper can be delivered wherever is best for so I had it dropped off at the office one Monday ready for the week ahead. In my box I chose to receive 3 meals for two; Street Chicken, Chicken Jambalaya and Tarragon Tilapia.

First up we chose to sample the Pan Fried Tilapia. At just 336 calories per portion this was my favourite meal in the box as I was really light and didn’t make me feel ‘too’ full. Accompanying the fish were crushed new potatoes and green beans which perfectly complimented the Tilapia along with a Tarragon & Creme Fraiche sauce. This sauce is amazing and goes really well with Chicken & Steak too!

Next up was the Chicken Jamabalaya, something I have never tried before. Also something I had never used in cooking before were boneless Chicken thighs which I received in my hamper. So much easier to prepare than breast meat and much tastier too (or am I imagining that?). There were lots of flavours that went into this; Honey, Orange, Tabasco and it worked so well. At 609 calories it was the most calorific of the meals but the portion was super generous and we had enough left over for lunch the next day too!

Finally we had Street Chicken – grilled Chicken kebabs, smothered in Satay & Sweet Chilli Sauce and served with rice and pan fried Garlic Green Beans. This was the quickest and easiest to make and prepare by far and the sauce was so good, I would definitely make it again and think it would be perfect as a BBQ marinade. However, the sauce was possibly the reason behind the 591 calories per portion.

None of these meals took much more than 30 minutes to prepare & cook, you really did receive everything you needed for every meal in the hamper and at no point were we left feeling hungry or wanting more.

This box retails on the site at £39 which I felt was pretty reasonable given that we could have easily got 4 days out of it and didn’t need to go to the supermarket tot stock up on anything.

I would definitely use Hello Fresh again without doubt, I just need them to start doing a box for one whilst my partner is working away!

Have you tried Hello Fresh or a similar hamper scheme? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
