Ah holiday beauty. Packing clothes and other essentials rarely stresses me out before a holiday, but when it comes to packing my makeup I get seriously wound up. I know it isn’t practical to take everything, so here are my bare essentials to pack for almost any trip…
Starting with base. There is something about the heat and humidity that seemingly makes my skin greasier and oilier than normal and with this in mind the first thing in my makeup bag for my trip abroad this year was the Oil-Control version of Urban Decay’s De Slick spray, quickly followed by Benefit’s Porefessional Primer to give my makeup the best chance of staying put it could have.
One thing I didn’t think about before heading to Italy was the fact that I might get a tan and that my usual, pale foundation would be redundant after just a few days in the sun and so I headed off to the nearest makeup store and picked up Garnier’s Pure Active BB Cream that not only has SPF in there, but it is also lightweight and a non greasy formula making it perfect for my skin. Luckily my trusty Wake Me Up Concealer from Rimmel continued to work its magic on my under eyes so I got something right when it came to base makeup!
Less is more when it comes to makeup abroad for me and so I simply popped my Hoola Bronzer from benefit, my Mary Lou-Maniser Highlighter and Master Sculpt from Maybelline in my makeup mag for that I’ve got great skin glow you want in your holiday snaps!
I do have a tendency to get a little bit red in the sun and so I forward planned with a very neutral blusher in the form of Max Factors Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve which you will probably know by now I have a huge soft spot for.
I invested in Nars’ Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base before my travels and I am so glad I did as it definitely earned its place in my travel makeup bag. Staying with the eyes, I chose this little Eyeshadow Trio from Pop to take with me as the colours are highly pigmented, stay around and can be blended together to create multiple looks. This little sampler of Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara came in really useful and helped to keep my lashes looking lifted and fuller looking all night long and of course my trusted Soap & Glory Archery Pencil came along for the trip too, no-one has time for bare brows abroad and this makes them bolder and beautiful in seconds!
The final spot in my bag of essentials went to this Illamasqua lipstick. I love bold lips anyway, but never more so than when I’m in the sun and Luster filled the gap perfectly with it’s bright, charismatic pink charm!
So there you have it, my essential holiday beauty picks, what are yours? Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you soon, until then though x
