My Nars Day & Night Lips

Just before Christmas you might remember that I visited the mother ship that is the Harvey Nichols makeup hall in Leeds and in particular the Nars counter. I went in search of two colours, not too dissimilar from one another that could be used for a day to night look. Here are the results.

As you may have seen me mention in other lip product posts, I usually tend to pick up very ‘safe’ colours as opposed to anything too striking. Perhaps I do it because I don’t particularly think my lips are my best feature? Naturally they’re quite pale and my top lip is fairly thin. However, I know block colours can counteract both of these things so I’m not sure why I don’t use them more often.

After trying a few colours and finishes out I chose the Satin Lip Pencil in Bansar for my daytime lip look. This is definitely not a colour I would usually go for but I was feeling brave and tried it out. It’s a very flat, semi-matte, rose brown that sits wonderfully on the lips.

This jumbo pencil can be used alone all over the lips or as a liner if used carefully but I think I would only ever use it as an allover colour. It doesn’t feel tacky or chalky on the lips and leaves them feeling nourished and looking ever so slightly glossy. It isn’t super long lasting but you can take this on the go with you and it is really easy to touch up.

Secondly for nighttime lips I chose the stunning garnet red Olivia from the Audacious Lip Collection. This collection from Nars is quite simply amazing. Each shade is ultra-pigmented to allow for intense & luxurious single stroke coverage straight from the bullet. Olivia is a berry red with very slight hints of blue that is perfect for winter and it works perfectly with my colouring and copper hair!

This formula really earns its money. I applied it Christmas morning, I drank prosecco, I ate a full Christmas dinner and it didn’t budge. It’s a matte finish, yet it doesn’t get 100% dry so it resists flaking and doesn’t dehydrate your lips either. I like to apply this with a lip brush as I find the bullet a little too big for my lips, however, I think this actually gets a better finish.

Finally the packaging is brilliant it’s very sleek and very Nars, but it isn’t rubberised and the lid is magnetic which to me makes this the perfect handbag lippie.

The pencil is £18.00 and the Audacious Collection colours are £24.00 each and I think Olivia is worth every penny.
