So on Friday I finally got to wear out my gorgeous Blonde & Wise Bright Red Trench Dress that Paul bought me for Christmas last year, I just haven’t been anywhere since then that seemed worthy of the nicest item of clothing I have ever owned and I thought that I would take you through my Springtime wedding look…
Oh where to start, initially this was going to be a video but the ever changing weather messed with the exposure on my camera so that was a none starter! But hey ho, let’s start at the beginning that seems as good a place as any.
As I was feeling (and looking as one of my lovely colleagues pointed out) a little on the pale side I decided to tan up the evening before with the new St Moriz Fast Tan. I’ll be reviewing this later in the week so don’t want to go on about it but as you can see it did look lovely on the skin.
I wanted makeup that lasted, so with this in mind I reached for my trusty MAC Prolongwear Concealer & Foundation (both in NW20) and the Lasting Finish Primer from Rimmel. I love this primer as it really does the trick for me and it isn’t too chalky or tacky on the skin and teamed with the MAC duo it really creates a base that holds out.
After a quick dusting of the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder (in Light Beige) to keep the skin looking fresh, I used the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit. This palette may not be as compact as I like and the powders are a little flaky in the pan, but their payoff and pigmentation is great and you can create some great contours with them. To blend everything together and give my face that same glow as the rest of my body I used a touch of Solar Powder by Soap & Glory (the holy grail) and buffed everything together with one of my RealTechniques brushes.
Something I have only just started using is The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter, so I added a sweep of this to the cheekbones, the point of my nose and the top of my chin. This powder is great because it doesn’t make you look oily, but instead just gives the skin that dewy English rose sheen.
Regular readers will know I love the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushers and I have recently added ‘Lavish Mauve’ which I used here to keep with the fresh faced theme.
To ensure that I didn’t have oil slick eyelids, I used the Urban Decay Original Eye Shadow Primer, before breaking out my new Collection Nude Grey Palette, sweeping Under The Moon all over the lids, Drift Wood in the crease & outer corners and blending Parchment from the crease to the brow bone. I boosted my brows with the Hot Chocolate Soap & Glory Archery Pencil and thickened the lashes thanks to Benefits Roller Lash Mascara. I created smokey eyes using the Pop Beauty Sooty Black Kajal but kept them looking wide awake with the Nude Scandaleyes Kajal by Rimmel.
Finally I covered my lips in Barry M’s Matte Me Up in shade 2. Because the dress was so bright I wanted to keep makeup quite minimalistic looking and very fresh which I think (& hope) I managed to do.
I’ve already mentioned my gorgeous Blonde & Wise dress which you can find on their website here & I love these shoes from JustFab which were just £35 and will look greta with anything thanks to their neutral colour!
I’m very aware that i may have waffled on for too long but very quickly I just wanted to point out that this look also works for daytime too; substitute the MAC Pro Longwear for Max Factor CC Cream & Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer and use a soft, coloured eyeliner to lighten the look up.
I really like this look and really hope you do too. I think this is perfect for a Spring Wedding or Formal, what do you think? Let me know your thoughts below and I’ll catch you again soon, until then though x
