Obrigado Porto

If there is one regret I have in life, it is that I didn’t catch the travel bug earlier on in life. Travelling has become my new love affair in life and I adore nothing more than to visit new places, experience new culture and embrace new flavours.

I was lucky enough to spend last weekend in the Portuguese coastal city of Porto after spying a bargain break on the fantastic Voyage Prive website just a few weeks ago. For just £220 each Paul and I bagged ourself a 3 night stay at the 5* Crowne Plaza Porto and return flights with EasyJet. As I said, bargain.

I’m a sucker for falling in love with places and Porto certain stole a little piece of my heart thanks to it’s colourful streets, wonderful waterside and amazing Pasteis de Nata.

From the beaches at Matoshinos, the caves of Vila Nova de Gaia and the medieval architecture of Ribeira, Porto has it all. In fact Porto has so much to offer, that even though we tried to squeeze as much into our long weekend away, it was impossible to do everything.

So a return visit is definitely on the cards.

I think the thing I loved the most about Porto (other than the climate) was the way of life there. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, happy to help and interested in your opinion of their beautiful city. Bars and restaurants were filled with friends and families enjoying time with one another, laughing and smiling and no matter where you headed to the atmosphere was so relaxed and calm.

Obrigado Porto, for welcoming me into your city and teaching me to switch off.
