Episode 4 : Raising Your Vibrations

Today I’m going to be talking to you all about raising your vibrations and how to feel like an unstoppable force of nature without making any drastic changes to your life or mindset.

The last week or so for me has felt very chaotic.

I’ve been extremely busy in my day job (for those that don’t know, I also work full time as a Project Manager alongside blogging & podcasting), I’ve been training hard for my next ‘big’ run next month and then I’ve actually been rather busy on the social life front too.

But all this ‘busyness’ can be quite draining – not only mentally and physically, but also on your vibrations.

Because I’ve been so busy, I’ve been determined to dedicate some quality time to keeping my vibrations high … although I can’t say that I’ve been 100% successful.

So, what am I talking about when I use the term ‘vibrations’? Well essentially I’m talking about my invisible energy or my vibe.

Everything is made up of energy and your vibration is the sum of the energy of everything you do, possess and consume.

And we can change our vibrations by making small changes to our routines.

It all sounds a little (read: a lot) woo, I know but stick with me.

I’d love to go into the science of ‘molecular’ structure and energy, but I’m definitely not capable (or qualified) enough to explain this fully at this stage of my journey. However, the amazing & wonderful Victoria of Apartment Number 4 has written a fantastic blog post on how to raise your vibrations that explains it much better than I can!

One thing she does say in there (I think) is how changing your energy is as easy as changing the energy of water – by changing the temperature of water you can change it from a liquid, to a vapour or a solid. You’re not performing a massive science experiment, but the small change you are making can drastically change the energy of the water.

They say positivity attracts positivity.

When you’re truly happy, you have this amazing glow and aura about you and that’s your positive energy shining through, your positive energy will attract likeminded positive energy people and you will notice that those people who you feel are quite draining, fade away.

So how do I raise my vibrations? Well I concentrate on three areas of my life;

Lets take a Strawberry as an example of something that I consume – a Strawberry fresh out of the field (a really nice and juicy one), this Strawberry has such high vibrations because it’s full of vitamins and minerals.

On the other hand, a Strawberry that is picked and pureed – that is mixed with sugars and stabilisers, has had all of that goodness removed from it and it won’t make us feel amazing. It will reduce our energy.

So when I feel a little ‘meh’ I tend to start by making sure that what I am eating is full of good vibrations – I always start with a protein sauce, I add in loads of fresh vegetables and herbs and create a real rainbow bowl full of goodness!

But we don’t just consume food – we consume news, content and opinions. Almost constantly. So removing these feeds from our lives is a big part of raising our vibrations – I have a personal Instagram account for example, that I only really use for the purpose of following Westie accounts. Why? Because they make me happy and that raises my vibrations.

As well as all of those things that I take in, there’s the things I possess too.

Without wanting to go all Kon Mari on you, if I have too many possessions in my life that no longer spark joy, then my vibrations will naturally be lower than if I had fewer possessions that spark joy. So for me it is all about making sure that my wardrobe if full of outfits that make me feel amazing, that me shelves are stacked with food that I cannot wait to consume and that the environment I live in is free from as much clutter and noise as possible.

Finally there’s the things that you can do when it comes to raising your vibrations too. I have a daily check-in with myself, ending the day on a calm note, one that is less reflective on the things I haven’t succeeded in doing and more about all of the things I can do the next day to make myself feel amazing.

It’s all about putting positivity out there, to attract positivity back into your life.

One thing I try to do every day is to smile to myself in the mirror as soon as I get up, it’s a great way to start the day.
