Ready for the Beach

As we fast approach the middle of the year and the height of the getaway season many of us are turning our attention to the three S’s of Summer; Sun, Sea and Sand.

Hand-in-hand with planning a Summer getaway comes a boat load of self preparation. For some of us this can simply mean a little bit of online hauling or shopping centre trawling for others it can mean weeks of toil and tear in the gym and hours in the local salon.

We’re all different.

Personally the saying ‘Ready for the Beach’ doesn’t scare me, it excites me because I don’t associate it with how I look. When I hear people talking about getting ready for the beach I think about the feeling of the sun on my skin, the sand in between my toes and the sea breeze messing up my hair. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t put the extra effort in in the gym and my meal planning…

Skin | In the run up to any break away I definitely up my skincare game. Recently I discovered the Ole Henriksen range and I have fallen head over heels for it! Their ‘The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths’ not only smell amazing thanks to their signature scent of blended citrus and vanilla, but they leave your skin radiant and smooth.

Body | Each year I promise myself that I will get fitter, faster, stronger and maintain an active lifestyle throughout the colder months. Most years I fail and end up doing an 8 week bikini blitz but this year (with the exception of a few ‘off’ weeks) I have finally managed it! I may not have that ‘perfect’ body that the magazines portray but I have one that I am happy in which is all that matters.

Swimwear | Over the years I have got much better at packing for trips abroad and no longer feel the need to take everything except the kitchen sink! I used to pack a new outfit and bikini for everyday and tbh I still probably take more swimwear than the days I’ll be away for BUT I have managed to get capsule packing down. When it comes to swimwear this year I am loving this new range from Fabletics, this Maro one-piece looks just as good as a body as it does by the pool.

Essentials | There’s not many things I would panic over forgetting to pack, most things can easily be picked up at the airport or at your destination. However, there a few bits that I just have to have and always make sure I have in my suitcase before jetting off; Hawaiian Tropic Sun Cream, Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Pencil and my trusty Ray-Ban Aviators.

I don’t have my Summer getaway booked in yet and until I do the great British seaside will keep me satisfied.
