Have you missed me? I’ve known that my week away was coming up for months now (since September in fact) and I planned ahead with the best intentions of having content scheduled for whilst I was away and lots of social posts too. So what changed…
…I guess I did.
I’ve always been the type of person to put work first. In one of my old roles I was regularly up proof reading and number crunching until the early hours, in another I would often be the first one in on a morning and the last leave at night, putting in 10 hour shifts to hit targets and plan marketing activity.
These days it tends to be my blog that rules the roost. I plan my days around creating content, putting together schedules, answering emails and attending events and I know that sometimes as a result I neglect other areas of my life that deserve better from me.
So where have I been?
Whilst putting together my schedule for my week off at the same time as making sure that I had everything but the kitchen sink packed and ready for my week away that nigling little voice inside me asked that question that I think frequents the heads of ‘hobby’ bloggers like myself; what’s the point?
What’s the point of putting myself through all this stress, who am I trying to please and what the hell am I trying to achieve?
So I shut down the laptop, logged out of blogger and left my writing head at home to have a week off to concentrate on just having fun, relaxing and getting off of the grid.
Whilst I was away I managed to answer that nigling voice; the point is that I enjoy blogging and I miss it when I’m not writing down my random thoughts, sharing my knowledge or networking with other bloggers. I’m not trying to please anyone other than myself and my own sense of being, however, I love knowing that there are people out there who turn to my site for knowledge, entertainment or just plain escapism.
Ultimately I’m trying to build something for myself that I can be proud of, that can help others and inspire them to be the best version of themselves and something that I can shape my future from.
I’m sorry if you missed my ramblings but if you did you’ll be pleased to hear that I’m back and I’m here to stay.
What has been your biggest ‘what’s the point’ moment?
Let me know below and I’ll catch up with you again soon, until then though x
